The NHL will visit SAP Garden twice in 2027
The star-studded Boston Bruins, led by Munich native JJ Peterka, will play two regular-season games in Munich in 2027 as part of the NHL Global Series Germany.
The NHL Returns to the SAP Garden

By bringing more NHL games to one of Europe’s most dynamic hockey markets, we hope to continue to deepen engagement amongst our fans, partners and local communities, while at the same time creating a significant opportunity to grow the game throughout the country.”

Having already proven two years ago that we can create a worthy setting for these extraordinary hockey experiences, we look forward to once again welcoming fans from all over Europe here at the SAP Garden.”
As early as the grand opening of the SAP Garden on September 27, 2024, the soon-to-be two-year-old sports arena welcomed an NHL team to Munich. At that time, the EHC Red Bull München opened its new home arena with a game against the Buffalo Sabres. JJ Peterka, who began his professional career with the Munich team, was playing for Buffalo at the time. Now, this exceptional German player is returning to his hometown twice with the Boston Bruins.
In addition to the two games at Munich’s SAP Garden, two regular season games featuring the Edmonton Oilers will be held in Cologne in 2027. Leon Draisaitl, another German NHL pro, will also be returning to his hometown for these games.
Further information on game dates, ticketing, and specific details will be announced during the 2026–27 NHL season. The NHL and the NHLPA (NHL Players’ Association) plan to continue bringing NHL games to Germany on a regular basis in the coming years.
