Unseen Places in the SAP Garden - The "Elephant Gate" and the roof // NEWSWith a usable area of 22,500 m², the SAP Garden has many other highlights to offer in addition to ice hockey, basketball and recreational sports. There is a lot to discover in Munich's new landmark. We'll show you places you've never seen before.
Before you can see the highlights of SAP Gardens for yourself during the Grand Opening, we are always introducing you to new places. Today: The "Elephant Gate" and the features of the roof.
From the "Elephant Gate" to the main playing area
A previously unseen place in the SAP Garden is the underground delivery zone, which leads to the so-called "Elephant Gate". The delivery zone offers space for up to three articulated lorries or buses. It will also be used to park the TV stations' OB vans and connect them to the control centre.
The delivery zone leads directly to the "elephant gate", which was given its name due to its size. The largest gate in the SAP Garden even allows lorries to pass through. The so-called "elephant gate" measures around 5.50 metres in width and has a clear height of at least 4.20 metres. It is used to allow lorries to enter the ice rink in order to bring equipment into the arena for conversion work at third-party events.

The roof - a highlight in many respects
Another unseen highlight of the SAP Gardens is the roof. The 13,000 square metre roof area above the main playing area is designed as an intensively greened roof. The special feature of the green roof is the type of planting. This is because the same mixture of meadow grasses will be planted there that can also be found in the Olympic Park. The green area on the roof is to be mowed two to three times a year once it is sufficiently mature.
A photovoltaic system with a total area of 2,000 square metres will also be installed on the roof for the purpose of sustainability. This should generate enough electricity over the course of a year to fully power one of the three training ice rinks.
Visitors of the SAP Garden can also look forward to an exclusive roof terrace. With an area of 600 square metres, it offers enough space to admire most of the Olympic Park from above.
