SAP Garden Review of the year 2025
After the Grand Opening last year, the SAP Garden can look back on 365 days of diverse events in the Olympiapark for the first time in its short history.
At the heart of this are EHC Red Bull Munich, which plays all its home games at Oberwiesenfeld, and FC Bayern Basketball, which has made the sports arena its second home and venue for EuroLeague games and the BBL playoffs.
FCBB celebrates first championship - Red Bull Munich in top form
After an eventful first season at the SAP Garden, the Red Bulls have finally arrived at their new home. At the end of the year, the four-time German ice hockey champions go into the turn of the year as the second-strongest team in the PENNY DEL. Despite numerous injuries, coach Oliver David's team has won nine of its last ten games, climbing to the top of the league table and consolidating its position there.
FC Bayern Basketball recorded a historic success in its debut season: after thrilling finals, the basketball team secured its first championship at the SAP Garden in June. This season, FCBB is also at the top of the German Basketball League at the end of the season and won its last duel in the SAP Garden against the VET-CONCEPT Gladiators Trier on December 28 with 94:84.
Soccer legends grace the SAP Garden
In addition to the matches between the two top Munich clubs, the SAP Garden 2025 was the venue for no fewer than 14 other events. These included the Beckenbauer Cup hosted by FC Bayern Munich in honor of the late soccer icon. Numerous legends from Munich, Real Madrid, AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund, VfB Stuttgart and Ajax Amsterdam were among the guests. A real soccer festival. Other soccer legends gathered a little later in May for the UEFA Ultimate Champions Legends Tournament in the SAP Garden.
Basketball, handball, MMA, esports and a musical on ice
Basketball events such as the spectacular Harlem Globetrotters show or the Turkish Airlines Basketball Supercup offered a great alternative during the FCBB's summer break. Handball was also played several times: At the Handball Supercup in August and at the DHB international match against Iceland.
There were also prestigious events such as MMA Oktagon in November and the globally acclaimed "Red Bull League Of Its Own", where "Faker", probably the greatest esports player in history, sent the arena into ecstasy when he entered the arena. The final event in the Events category in December was the musical Cinderella on Ice, in keeping with the end of the year and the Christmas season.
SAP Garden breaks one million spectator mark
In the calendar year 2025, over 690,000 visitors attended the 68 events at SAP Garden - before the turn of the year, the total number of spectators since the sports arena opened had even broken the 1,000,000 mark. The three ice rinks even attracted around 120,000 more visitors in 2025. Impressive figures for an incredible year. We are already looking forward to 2026 together, with further highlights in the SAP Garden.
