SAP Garden: Shell is finished
What a single excavator started in January 2020 has now been completed with the last area still to be concreted after a construction period of around two years.
From special civil engineering to steel construction and logistics: the challenges for those involved were enormous - and so were the dimensions: almost 350,000 tonnes of earth were excavated for the building pit.
The floor space of the new multifunctional sports arena is about 22,500 m². That is equivalent to the area of twelve ice hockey rinks. During the peak phase, 500 workers were simultaneously active on the construction site, installing over 110,000 m² of formwork and 500 micropiles.
