Logistics and LEAN.Construction
ZÜBLIN-Direktion Bayern are an industry-leading company within the areas of civil and structural engineering and the project goes hand in hand with many further entities of the STRABAG Group – with teams from Züblin Spezialtiefbau GmbH (underground civil engineering) and Züblin Stahlbau GmbH (structural steelwork engineering), amongst others. “We are proud to have been awarded the contract for this lighthouse project of German sporting infrastructure. This ambitious project gives us the chance, alongside our know-how in LEAN.Construction, to bring in a wide range of ZÜBLIN expertise in structural and civil engineering,” explains ZÜBLIN board member Harald Supper. “The greatest challenge on the construction site for us will be the coordination of the different teams involved and the logistical management of the vast amounts of material in a short time,” adds Ludger Koch, technical director for ZÜBLIN-Direktion Bayern. Six cranes are being used on the site to help with the use of 54,800m³ of concrete, 8,600t of reinforcing steel, 111,000m² of shuttering and 2,950m³ of lime-sand brick under tight timing. As well as its up to 11,500 seats, including 1,000 business seats and 11 boxes with 156 seats, there will also be fan shops, offices and conference rooms under the roof of the SAP Garden. The arena’s underground car park will have 220 car parking spaces and approximately 4,000 extra parking spots will be available in Olympiapark’s Parkharfe. With the capacity fully used, up to 40 ice hockey games, up to 40 basketball games and up to 40 further sporting or sport-related events will be able to be held in the SAP Garden per year.
