SAP Garden: Next milestone reached!
Monday, 13. February 2023 | Next milestone: The shell of the SAP Garden is completed
SAP Garden: Next milestone reached! // CURRENTThe future home of the Red Bulls continues to take shape. Now the last cubic meters of concrete have been poured and we can announce the completion of the project: The shell of the SAP Garden is complete!
It is already clearly visible from the outside. And anyone who looks at the images from the webcam at www.sapgarden.com will have been amazed: The next milestone on the way to the SAP Garden has been completed. What a single excavator started in January 2020 with the excavation has now been completed with the last area still to be concreted after a construction period of around two years.

Impressions from the SAP Garden construction site
"I get goose bumps every time I walk through the construction site. What is being built here is unique. A piece of Munich ice hockey history," says Christian Winkler, Managing Director Sports Red Bull Eishockey.
"We can all hardly wait"
From special civil engineering to steel construction and construction logistics: the challenges for those involved were enormous - as were the dimensions: for example, almost 350,000 tons of soil were excavated for the construction pit. "I still remember well what a huge hole opened up there. We can all hardly wait until we finally move into our new sporting home," Winkler continues.
The footprint of the new multifunctional sports arena is approximately 22,500 square meters. This is equivalent to the area of twelve ice hockey rinks. During the peak phase, 500 workers were simultaneously active on the construction site, installing over 110,000 square meters of formwork and 500 micropiles.
The further milestones
In spring 2023, another spectacular construction phase will start with the cladding of the facade with 260 aluminum pilaster strips. These facade components are huge. From the smallest to the largest so-called pilaster strips, they measure 11.6 to 18.2 meters and weigh between 600 kilograms and one ton. Parallel to this heavy work on the outside, delicate trades such as heating systems, ice preparation, electrical and media technology and other high-tech infrastructure are being installed inside the multifunctional sports arena in comparison.
