For the first time in the SAP Garden: That was the 2025 Handball Super CupAn afternoon full of highlights// HIGHLIGHTSOn Saturday (August 23), top-class sport was celebrated at SAP Garden. The Handball Super Cup was held for the first time in Munich's new landmark venue.

The event at SAP Garden marked the joint season opener for the Handball Bundesliga (HBL) and the Women's Handball Bundesliga (HBF). As part of this, the Füchse Berlin faced THW Kiel in the men's competition. In the women's competition, Thüringer HC took on HSG Blomberg-Lippe.

Excitement until the end

In the first match of the day, Thüringer HC prevailed against HSG Blomberg-Lippe. The team from Thuringia was trailing by eight goals at one point, but ultimately won the match 31:30 after an intense final phase.

The men's match was also a close affair. It took a penalty shootout for Füchse Berlin to clinch the win. Thanks to some strong saves by goalkeeper Lasse Ludwig, the Berlin team won the Super Cup with a score of 34:33.

Record attendance at the HBF

10,298 spectators watched the spectacle live at the SAP Garden. This set a new attendance record for the Alsco Women's Handball Bundesliga.
